'Tis the Season | Mr. & Mrs. Snow!

Hello sweet people!

Britt Bass here and I'm so excited to bring you my first official post as a DT sweetie for Sweet Stamps!

I saw these little pair of Snow People and just KNEW it would make an excellent "snow globe" shaker card!

First I stamped Mr. & Mrs. Snow DUO with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with my Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers.  I used Distress Ink in Stormy Skies to add a winter-y blue sky above the happy couple and then added stars, highlights and fun details with a white gel pen.

I die cut a large circle in a 6x6 sheet of Christmas tree paper (from my stash) with a Circle Die and then used the same die and a slightly larger scallop circle die to create a frame with green cardstock.
I assembled my shaker with a piece of acetate and filled it with a mixture of Sugar SandClear Glass Micro Beads, and some blue micro beads (from my stash).  I didn't add any sequins or larger pieces because I wanted it to look like a snow bank the swishes from side to side as it shakes!  I finished the card with a layered sticker from my stash!

Thanks for taking a look!

Simplify with Piccolo Embossing Powder

Hello, it's Arin here and I have to say Globecraft & Piccolo Embossing Powders have breathed new life in my interest in scrapbooking!

Yes, I have admitted that I am not a fan of scrapping, but being able to add layers of interest and depth without a whole lot of embellishments and pre-planning the layout, is right up my alley!

I challenged myself to do a real layout with only using what I had in my supply stash and the Piccolo Embossing Powder. I feel I have myself a layout that looks interesting and tells a story that was quick and easy to throw together, yet the high quality of the Piccolo Embossing Powder really carries this beyond the simplicity of this layout!

Materials Needed:
Arin Flynn
A Piece of Life's Pie

  •
Step One: Embossing Printed Pictures - Once pictures are printed out on a color printer and hand cut or cut with a Silhouette Cameo (smooth white cardstock was used), apply Piccolo Embossing Adhesive around the border of each picture and dust with Piccolo Embossing Powder.  Remove excess and set with heat gun.

Step Two: Embossing edges of cardstock layer - Applying the same method above, apply Piccolo Embossing Adhesive around the border of and dust with Piccolo Embossing Powder.  Remove excess and set with heat gun. This provides a great framing element to each of the pictures.

Step Three: Embossing with stamp images - Applying Piccolo Embossing Adhesive to clear stamps, stamp onto desired surface and dust with Piccolo Embossing Powder. Remove excess and set with heat gun.  This was done onto the base of the layout at well as an inked edge scrap piece of paper for the sentiment.

Step Four: Assembly and adding final touches - All layers were attached to the base of the layout with ATG and washi tape was added for a final touch.

Creating keepsake layouts can be overwhelming at times when you feel like you have to add all but the kitchen sink to make them feel unique and personal.  Using the magic of Piccolo Embossing Powder and a few quick and simple techniques, you can succeed in creating special layouts without a whole lot of fuss!

A Mardi Gras-inspired background

Hey, it's Laura. I have really been stretched by this month's Designer Challenge for Globecraft and Piccolo: background papers. In fact, I have sort of stretched my definition of background papers. Let me show you.

It is actually part of a two page spread, but I will show you the other side at the end of the post. It is created with the same techniques, which I will outline: stenciling, stamping, and direct application.

Laura Drahozal
Remembering Life's Moments
Stenciling & Materials:
Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive
Piccolo Powders in your desired color; I used 24K Gold
Stencil; I chose Dreamweaver Fleur De Lis LJ 841
Stencil Brush
Paper Towel
Paper; I used DCWV Timeless Texture Pac
Scrap Card Stock
Repositionable Adhesive
Removable Tape
Heat Gun

Directions:
1) If you would like to mask out the background, and not stencil the whole thing, cut the scrap card stock to fit your picture.

2) Use repositionable adhesive to adhere the card stock in the position that you would like place your picture.

3) Place the stencil where you like it. Adhere with removable tape.

4) Remove the lid from the Embossing Powder Adhesive container and dip the stencil brush into the liquid.

5) Tap off the excess liquid on paper towel.

6) Tap the stencil brush straight up and down over the stencil.

7) Remove the stencil.

8) Pour embossing powder on image and gently tap off the excess.

 9) Heat emboss.

10) When you remove the card stock, you will have a blank area on the inside to adhere the photograph.

Stamping & Materials:
Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive
Piccolo Embossing Powder of your choice; I used 24 K Gold.
Stamp; I used a Stampabilities stamp and a Hero Arts Stamp.
Paper
Heat Gun
Paper Towel

Directions:
1) Use the Globecraft and Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive's unique applicator bottle to cover the stamp.

2) Stamp on the paper.

3) Pour Piccolo Embossing Powder onto image and gently tap to remove excess.

4) Heat set with heat tool.

5) When cool, gently buff with the paper towel to remove any additional powder.

Direct Application & Materials:
Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive
Piccolo Embossing Powder of your choice; I used Vintage Gold
Object you would like to emboss; I used the papers that I previously embossed, a title cut from card stock with my Silhouette Machine, and Piccolo Fluer De Lis.
Piccolo Easy Grip Tweezers
Heat Gun

Directions:
1) Use the applicator in the Embossing Powder Adhesive to directly apply the liquid to the object.

Just around the edges on the papers!

All over the other objects!

2) Pour the powder over the object.

3) VERY carefully tap off any excess from the papers OR move the object out of the pile of powder using the tweezers.

4) Heat emboss.

Be sure to use the tweezers to hold the small objects when you emboss!

5) Repeat the above steps for the book board objects.

You may be wondering how I stretched the theme this month. After all, I am showing you three different ways to use the powders on backgrounds. But, there is the stretch! Look carefully, and you will see that I have not used these powders for the background papers at all, but instead for the mats! Here is the other side of the two page spread:

Daddy's Girls - embossed canvas

Hi all, it is Arin here and I have a huge confession to make . . . I am not a big fan of scrapbooking. I love looking at other crafter's layouts, but I just can't stay on top of it and then I am overwhelmed and it all just sits in a tote in the back of my craft room closet collecting mounds of dust. Thankfully, I have found a happy medium where I can capture memories as a scrapbooker, but have it also serve as home decor (which is my first crafty love)! This fun canvas wall hanging is a great way to capture keepsake moments and have them be timeless story just as a layout in a scrapbook.

Materials Needed:
  • Globecraft & Piccolo - Embossing Powder Adhesive
  • Globecraft & Piccolo Vintage Copper Embossing Powder
  • Globecraft & Piccolo Real Rust Embossing Powder
  • Globecraft & Piccolo Gilded Rose Gold Embossing Powder
  • Globecraft & Piccolo Deep Blue Embossing Powder
  • Globecraft & Piccolo - Glastique Finishing Glaze Matte
  • Globecraft & Piccolo - Soft Grip Tweezers
  • Globecraft & Piccolo Steampunk Gears & Wind Up Key Chipboard Pieces
  • Hemptique - Hemp Cord
  • Artist's Loft 9x12 inch canvas
  • Americana Buttermilk craft paint
  • Craft Smart Golden Brown craft paint
  • Daubers/foam brushes/foam pieces
  • Close to My Heart Stamp Ink (Chocolate and White Daisy)
  • Pick Your Plum - Rubber Stamps (Chevron/Quarterfoil)
  • Heidi Swapp Color Shine -Mustard
  • Scotch ATG
  • Heat Gun
  • Paper: Glitz - 6x6 Cashmere Dame and MME 6x6 Bright
  • Paper Towel
  • Popsicle stick

Step 1: Prep canvas base - Prep the canvas by applying a thin layer of buttermilk craft paint, allow to dry, dab golden brown craft paint, distress with a paper towel and then using a dauber ink canvas with white stamp ink.

Step 2: Stamping and embossing onto canvas - Apply Piccolo Enamel/Embossing Powder Adhesive to the rubber stamps and stamp directly to the canvas.  Dust with Piccolo Gilded Rose Gold Embossing Powder and Piccolo Deep Blue Embossing Powder, remove excess and set with heat. Please note that this stamps  and embosses on canvas in a more "distressed" manner.

Step 3:  Making designer paper embellishments with stamping and embossing - Using the same crafting tools and Piccolo Embossing Powders and technique stamp and emboss images onto designer paper.

Rip and ink edges of paper.  Using a 6x6 coordinating paper, rip and distress.

Step 4: Embossing Piccolo Steampunk Gears & Wind Up Key chipboard pieces - Apply Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive to chipboard pieces and dust with Piccolo Embossing Powder, remove excess and set with heat using Soft Grip Tweezers.

Step 5: Embossing frame from Steampunk Gears & Wind Up Key chipboard set - Apply Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive to chipboard pieces and dust with Piccolo Deep Blue Embossing Powder, remove excess and set with heat.

Step 6 (optional - use of photos or print and hand cutting photos can be another option) - Cutting and prep of memory photos - Using a Silhouette Cameo, print and cut photos to desired size and ink edges.

Step 6 (optional - use any sentiment or print and hand cut sentiment): Cutting and prep of sentiment for embossed chipboard frame - Using a Silhouette Cameo, print and cut sentiment to desired size needed to fit the chipboard frame.  Lightly spray one coat of Heidi Swapp Color Shine to add a distressed feel to the sentiment. Attach sentiment to the back of the chipboard frame with an ATG.

Step 7: Applying paper and photos to the canvas base - Using Glastique Finishing Glaze Matte, apply to the backs of paper and photos and place onto canvas. Apply a layer of Glastique Finishing Glaze Matte to the top surface of paper and photos and smooth with both a sponge and wooden Popsicle stick with light pressure.

Step 8: Adding the Finishing Touches - Add the embossed gears randomly to the project using Glastique Finishing Glaze Matte  to secure and preserve and add Hemptique Hemp Cord around one side of canvas and add "Wind Up Key".

Making memories "Globecraft and Piccolo style" can truly turn a few photos and a sentiment into more than just an account of an event or moment.  It can turn it into a work of art that brings those memories to life!  Having Piccolo Embossing products is a must-have in every memory maker's stash!  Be sure to pop over to my blog and see what I have cooking with more Globecraft & Piccolo Embossing Powders!

Punching out a great new tip!

Hello everyone, it's Arin here and do I have a treat of a tip for you today! I love discovering a new technique while crafting and it ends up being very easy with not a lot fuss to it, yet becomes the show stopper of the project.

Arin Flynn
A Piece of Life's Pie

I recently purchased metal punch sets and decided to see if I could get the same effect as punching metal using them on my Globecraft and Piccolo bookboard that were embossed with Piccolo Embossing Powder.

Boy, did the end result more than meet my expectations. All I did was emboss the the Globecraft and Piccolo bookboard tag by layering Piccolo Vintage Copper and Turquoise Lagoon Embossing Powder. Once set with heat and cooled, I used my 1/8 inch capital letter metal punches and punched "pony love" to the surface of the tag using a the hammer that came with punch set.

I was just amazed by how much this turned out looking like it was metal that was punched and how well Globecraft and Piccolo bookboard and embossing powder responded to this technique. I've always loved how Piccolo Embossing Powder can make things look and feel like it's real metal and this just brought it to a whole new level.

Coffee and card-making

I settled in on a warm Spring evening with a good cup of coffee and some Piccolo Embossing Powder to create some cards to have on hand for special occasions.

My first try was using one of my favorite Wendy Vecchi stamps: Well Worn Art. There's a weed stamp in this set that I find myself using over and over in a variety of ways. This time I inked the stamp with my Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive and stamped the image on a piece of heavy-weight white cardstock. Then I sprinkled over the area with our new Platinum Embossing Powder and gently tapped the excess off.

There's a mix of sizes of powder in the jar and so I got this amazing vintage-style image when I set it with the heat tool.

The entire background is over-stamped with another Wendy Vecchi stamp from Live and Make Art. It's a large script background stamp using Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee. It is then inked with Distress Inks - Broken China, Mustard Seed and Dried Marigold. Cool eh?

I spritzed it with Blue Smoke Perfect Pearls Mists and heat set.

Then I went around the edges with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to define the edges.

The sentiment is also from Well Worn Art (Wendy Vecchi) and is stamped on white cardstock with Archival Coffee Ink and heat set. Then I punched it out with an scallop oval Marvy punch and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

It's all assembled (mounted on a dark green cardstock) then onto a basic white card. The sentiment is raised with dimensional foam tape and gems were added to a couple of the weed heads to complete the look.

So, grab a cup of coffee of your own and visit my blog for a look at a previous post that shows off additional cards using Globecraft products.
