Our challenge theme this week is

Winter Blues

My card is more Aegean than blue but it does have the blues...

I'm missing summer in the worst way.

So I created this beach theme with a bit of winter.

I used Copic Pen to shade it slightly

then added some "snow" with my Marvy Snow Pen.

butterfly blessings

This week we start the new year. I am creating cards to have on hand for various occasions. This would be appropriate for a birthday or a thank you card.

On a soft grey card blank I added a contrasting band of a graphite toned paper.

I stamp several flourishes using the Flourishes clear stamp kit. I embossed these with Platinum embossing powder. I also added the You're a Blessing sentiment with the same powder.

Next I embossed three butterflies from the Butterfly Accents set using Bahama Aqua, Deep Blue Sky, and Turquoise Lagoon powders.

I attached the butterflies and some flat rhinestones using Glastique.

Wee Willie w/ Candle

Good morning and happy Saturday!!

I (Calypso) am here to share a card I made using, all new goodies that I received in my last order form SweetStamps.

I have been seeing all the cool and wintery backgrounds being made using the distress inks and I just had to get on the wagon and try it.  For the my card today, I pulled out the following distress ink pads:  Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass and for the ground Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.  I know that the card does not look like it has all those colors, but trust me iI did!!  :) 

Once I colored the background,  I used White Dye ink to stamp Tiny Snowflake Border three times.  

I really did like how it looked, but I wanted to add a little something.  That little something was the Christmas Star stamp.   After coloring Wee Willie w/ Candle, I proceed to some fussy cutting therapy!!  LOL

I added extra white detail to the star.  To add a little more glow around the star, I dabbed my finger into the white dye ink and rubbed gently.  I did this several times, until I achieved my dissed look.

 For Wee Willie I used the following  Copic markers:E49,47, 44, 11, 00, 000, R59, 46, 37, 35

A Card Set for The Girls!

These cards came together really quickly as I wanted to focus to be on the sentiments themselves.  I had a little fun by angling two of them for variation.  And of course a lady always needs her pearls!

The challenge at Sweet Stamps for this week is Something New.  Well, I had a hayday buying stuff in the store for Santa to bring to me......, so I have lots to choose from!

  I had fun with Dylusions sprays for the background, and then I used a stencil and covered the background with Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste.  Oh- IRL this paste is just gorgeous!  The paste is flexible, so you can bend the cardstock top to bottom, and it will not crack.......  It also picks up the hue from the color of the Dylusions underneath it.
  I used Enamel Embossing Powder Royal Sterling on the outer edge of the image. I swiped the cardstock with the antistatic first, and once the purple EP was cooled down, I swiped again with the antistatic and embossed the crown using Micro Gold Enamel EP. I know the shimmer in the Enamel EP does not show well in pictures- it is heavenly!

I colored the butterfly with Distress Markers Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Chipped Sapphire.  I colored and stamped it a 2nd time, fussy cut it and added shimmer with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen.
