It's Linda with another Globecraft Ornament! I'll tell you, these things are so addicting. I am having so much fun creating these little ornaments that I call Victorian Gewgaws. Yes, it really is a word - look it up!
For this ornament I used the new Globecraft Memories Horizontal Blank Ornament along with our Piccolo Enamels. I love the finished results!
Here's how it's done:
Brush the inside back of your globe with a thin coat of Globecraft Memories Glossy Glastique and sprinkle on some glitter. I used Art Glitter Vintage Glass Glitter no. 623, Rose Bud. It's a beautiful pinky-purple color.
The clip art is from Crafty Secrets and I simply fussy-cut around the image till it fit the inside of my globe. I like to add a tiny amount of dried moss to help hold the image up and keep it dimensional. I cut the phrase to fit so that it has a slight curve and glue it in place at the very tips.
My intent for this one was originally was to dry emboss the outer frames and then paint them with acrylic paint.
It was okay but it didn't really fit with the glittered back - it needed a tad more bling! I immediately went to our Enchanted Aubergine Piccolo Enamel Powder. I love the texture I was able to achieve because of the dry embossing but also because when adding two-to-three layers of Enchanted Aubergine you can create even more texture! Look at all that juicy goodness!
The next step is assembly. Follow the package instructions for easy assembly. I like to secure mine with clothespins or binder clips while the glue sets up.
It takes but a few minutes for it to set and then I like to add beads to a jewelry wire for hanging. I'm not a beader and my wire finishes leave a whole lot to be desired so I always hide it under a big pretty ribbon bow! Love the way this one turned out and how the light filters through the glittered back. How about you?
