Challenge #89 Black Magic

Hello crafty friends! It's time for another weekly challenge at SweetStamps.com. Now don't be spooked by this week's theme...

Black Magic
What is Black Magic? Well, it's a neat technique for adding color to an image on black cardstock that really pops! There are two different ways to do this:

  1. Heat Embossed Black Magic: Stamp your image onto black cardstock using an embossing ink and heat emboss with white EP. Add color to the white embossed image using colored pencils, permanent or alcohol based markers. Dye based markers can be used, but can rub off the EP which is great for a distressed or lighter colored look. For a tutorial using colored pencils, click hereScroll down to see photos of this technique using alcohol based markers.
  2. White Ink Black Magic (aka Chalkboard Technique): Stamp your image with white ink onto black cardstock. Make sure the ink is completely dry and color over it with chalks. Any chalk that gets outside of the white image will show, but you can always clean it up with an eraser.
Supplies used: Embossing Pal Anti-Static Pad, Black Artist Trading Card (ATC),
#6000 Parisian Bouquet Silhouette stamp, Distress Clear Embossing Ink, Fine Detail White EP,
LePlume permanent alcohol based markers in assorted colors
Here is the image embossed in white on the black ATC
Here is the result after coloring with alcohol based markers - pretty huh?

We'd love to see your creation, so come join in the fun! Remember to use a SweetStamps image on your creation to get an extra chance at winning $20 of rubber stamps from SweetStamps.com. Rules are listed in the sidebar and instructions can be found at the bottom of this post.

Okay, that is a darned neat technique. I don't know that I'll have time to try it this week, but I'll keep it in the back of my head -- so thanks for the tutorial!
