Wave Catchers Layout

Hello!  Happy Friday!!!  It's Lisa here with you all, and I'm excited to share today's project.  In keeping with this weeks challenge theme of anything but a card I have a layout to share with all of you today.  This layout incorporates lots of stencils and stamps in various ways, and let's not forget the cute piccolo accents too...

Now on this layout I have used stencils in three different ways... spraying ( tag and background ), embossing ( blue splash background ), inking ( yellow and orange background ).  Stencils are some of the most fun and versatile tools out there, and SweetStamps.com has quite the selection!  In the last photo I tried to take my photo on an angle so you could see the gorgeous shine of the blue embossed background.  To create the embossed stencil look I began by taping my stencil to cardstock with washi tape.  I then pressed my versamark ink pad into the stencil until the whole thing was covered.  Next I removed the stencil, added the embossing powder and heat set it.  I love this look and the texture.

I also used stamps in two different ways on this layout.  If you look in the upper left corner you will see I made a corner border by stamping the word summer repeatedly.  Then in the lower right corner you will see where I stamped "surfs up" repeatedly without re-inking.

Finally, you will see that I embossed two beach themed piccolo accents that are the perfect embellishments for this fun mixed media layout.

Love layout

I love dressing up the accents with various embossing enamels!  For my title I also sealed it with Glastique in gloss for a nice shine.  Now technically my card wouldn't fit in the current challenge, since I have lots of little spots of colors, but I hope to see you join us in our Pink, White and one more color...

Brrr... A layout

Hello Sweets!!!  It's Lisa here today ready to share a super clean and simple layout that I have created with some of the gorgeous snowflake accents by Piccolo and Globecraft...

I've also taken some up close photos to show you more details on these gorgeous snowflake accents...

To really make these accents pop I embossed them with three different enamel embossing Powders:

The Butterfly Effect

Intro

Hello sweet friends! I'm guest designer Michelle McClure and I'm super excited to be rubber stamping along side you all this month.

I reside in Temple City, CA which is a small suburb in Southern California with my hubby and two doggies. I taught elementary school for sixteen years and just love those third graders. I've naturally been scrapbooking most of my life, making my own Smash type books as a kid. I seriously started crafting when stamping was all the rage and later transitioned to official scrapbooking. Now I can combine my two passions of stamping and scrapping as I'll be sharing in today's project. 

The Layout

When I first heard that September's first challenge was about butterflies, I immediately imagined a rabble of them fluttering across a page. I thought that would be the perfect background for a layout. 

The Details

I wanted a soft color palette to match the butterfly theme so I chose to use My Mind's Eye's Follow Your Heart, Be Happy collection. Using the patterned paper as a guide, I picked 4 coordinating ink pad colors. I wanted an ombre effect, so I stamped from dark to light, and right to left going diagonal on my page using just one stamp, Bold Butterfly Medium. I drew a rectangle slightly smaller than the size of my photo mat so I'd know where to stamp and the lines will be covered by the mat later. 

I wanted the butterflies to be the star so I faded my photos prior to printing so most of the color would be in the stamping. To further emphasize the butterflies, I added some Stickles glitter to them. 

It made the plain cardstock look like expensive glitter embossed designer paper. 

Here is a look at the date and journaling cluster. The bit of the patterned paper peeking out from behind the photos is actually the color inspiration for the entire layout. 

I was thinking this sketch would look cute as a card, just scale everything smaller and replace the photo block with the sentiment. 

If you have a stamp that you love, try using it to make your own patterned paper. Then you can get the exact color and design that you need for any type of project.
