An artsy wall hanging

It's so much fun to get crafty when you make items to hang on your wall, don't you think?
Hi, I'm Diana and I'm going to show you how I created a beautiful set of wall hangings!

You'll need some Aleen's Glue, Craft frames, and vintage text pages, to start.

Glue the textbook page onto the back of the frame.

Take two more sheets of textbook paper, and rub a couple of colors of oil pastels onto the page. In layering colors, you'll see how they naturally blend together. Nice, right? Now, spray it with workable fixative, and let it dry.

You can certainly use your own art, but being pressed for time, I opted for a rubber stamp. Use a nice dark color. Let it dry, then cut out the stamped image.

Now you can glue the stamped image onto the middle of your frame. At this point, think of what you want to go around the image. I decided on seed beads and gold sparkle glitter by Globecraft & Piccolo.

Also, I used a little heart shaped bead that I sculpted.
After glueing the beads, I went and used UV Resin, to ensure that they don't go anywhere.

Now, get a sturdy piece of cardstock, and some yarn for hanging, and glue it, sandwiching the yarn in between the cardstock and the frame, and let dry.

You can also use some Glastique finishing glaze around the rest of the piece.
And that's that! Once it's dry, you've got something that looks like this:

You can do a lot with something like this! Even use pictures of your kiddos, if you want.

Making golden clouds

I'm Diana and today, I'm going to show you step-by-step, how I created this journal page:

Okay, so first of all, I recommend using watercolor paper. Any kind, any brand.

To create a background, I used a mask that I had made out of paper, but you can use anything. You don't have to make a mask, you can buy them. If you are going to make them, I suggest using a cereal box, or heavy cardstock. You can do a google search for templates and use that as a guide for cutting.

I sprayed a mist of paint spray that I also had made myself. It's really easy to make yourself. You can read my blog post about it here.

Next move the mask over, and spray it again.
Let that dry.

Now, this step isn't really needed. I had remembered that I have this hand carved cloud stamp, and I wanted to use it, so I did. But once I did that, I realized I wanted to use something else.

I stamped a bird (from my own collection) onto some dictionary paper, and cut them out and pasted them, AND THEN I went over the clouds with some Piccolo 3D Enamel Gel in Metallic Gold. I really feel like it gives the page dimension, don't you?
Then, I used some pen and ink and did this:

I wrote a short poem using my dipper and ink, that reads,

She gathered her offspring
and flew away
among the trees
and golden clouds
and now
she could finally
sing out.

Making an altered art tin

Hi Diana here, to show you how to make this cute altered tin!

You'll need:

Washi Tape

Gesso
Blank Ink pad
Typewriter font background stamp
Paint Spray (you can make your own)
Doll face (draw your own, or buy one)

Cover your tin with washi tape. I do this to prep the tin for gesso. You can't apply gesso directly to the tin, as it will peel (if it even stays on; usually for me it doesn't even dry).

After that, apply some gesso, and let it dry.

Then, add color by using some paint spray. I do this because it's a fast and fun way to add color to a surface or background:

Once that is done, you can stamp the front cover with a stamp, and apply your doll face.

After that, add a bit of glitter and seal with Glastique. Normally, beeswax is used, but beeswax requires heating, and can be a bit messy, while Glastique is fast and easy and requires no heating.

Here's the finished piece again:

Take a look at her blog:  http://heatherahudson.blogspot.com/

Arin Flynn from southern California. Arin's crafting motto is, "serving up a slice of creativity" with combining life and creative ingredients of paper, ribbon, glitter and anything else I can toss into the crafty mix! Arin and her husband are parents to two daughters, ages 3 and 4. Arin traded in her employment law books and employment relations (glorified adult babysitting) to stay home and start a family. That is when the crafting bug really bit! "Paper crafting is something I love with a passion and creating things from home decor to party decorations brings me joy and satisfaction. I created a crafting blog in 2011 and am slowly finding my way among the never-ending talent and inspirations that make up the online crafting community. In February of 2012 I had the honor of seeing my first published project sitting on shelves in local retail stores. In July of 2012 I had the joys of being accepted to be a member of a popular Cricut challenge blog, Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog." Visit her blog at http://apieceoflifespie.com/

Stay tuned for introductions to more team members this week.
