Take a Risk with Leah

I have created a male-themed card for today's inspiration using Piccolos Vintage Gears set, Medieval Metals embossing powder, Black embossing Powder, Distress Inks, Artsy Fartsy French Script stamp, and some vellum.

This was a fun card to create and if you would like more details about how I made it, please visit my blog at Ode to Paper.

These products can be found at the Sweet Stamps online shop, along with plenty more.  Come on over and take a look, you never know what fall into your shopping cart!

And don't forget to come and join in on our TWO monthly challenges:  the Anything Goes challenges starts on the first Sunday of every month, and the Anything But a Card challenges starts on the third Sunday of every month.  Hope to see you there!

Happy Birthday Christ the Lord

For my post today, I wanted to share the Stained Glass Nativity card I made to celebrate the birth of Christ the Lord.
I stamped the image onto Parchment Vellum (after first swiping the vellum with the anti-static pad), and then embossed using Queens Gold EP. I colored the image from the reverse side using Copic Sketch markers using small flicking strokes from end to end. Once each color was dry, I would blend using the next higher color. For each color , I generally used at least three colors.
The background is called Faux Wood, and seems appropriate for a baby born in a stable. The next layer is a shimmery Gold cardstock from Paper Temptress.  I added rhinestones that were colored with Copic YR24. I added a touch of Stickles to the star and the halo.
I cut a piece of plain white cardstock that fit just inside the brown rim of the image and attached it to the back of the vellum using spray adhesive.

Supplies I used to make this card:

Dreaming of snow in July (and in Israel? )

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to our Dreaming of Snow in July  Sweet Stamps weekly challenge.
It's hard to think about snow in July, but it's even harder to think about it in Israel, as snow is very rare here at all. But as my family loves ski, we do travel abroad and see a lot of snow, but for a very short time each year. So here is my snow dream card, made with Sweet Stamps most delicious Snowflake stamp and a lot of Paper House Productions gorgeous papers that are not from a winter range at all (some are from the family range and some from the sea range, but look at the colors and patterns and  see how those " out of the range" paper fit this snow challenge.)

My three Sweet Stamps snowflakes were stamped over SS vellum with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with a mix of embossing powders; the white is a bit puffy and the blue has glitter inside. Then I added  the sticker title and embellished those " frames in a frame" with some pearls.

Rose ribbon doll by Juliet Arrighi, guest designer

The Rose Surround is one of my first SweetStamps purchases - I love how it is perfectly designed to accent a curved focal area, and it is a great way to add a floral touch without bulky embellishments.  However, I was admiring a set of Dia de los Muertos dolls with floral garlands in their hair, and I wondered if the gentle arch of my Rose Surround would work that way.  I decided I wanted a fairy instead of a skeleton, though:
I drew the patterns for the doll, dress, and hair myself.  If you think you can't draw, I will tell you a secret - even professional artists don't expect to get it right the first time.  They draw something over and over, with their erasers in their other hand, constantly tweaking until it looks the way they wish. also, you don't have to get the whole thing right - I drew the torso, head, and arms separately.  I went through a lot of sketches before I got the shape that I wanted.  once I had a pattern, I cut the parts from an old book page and glued it all together.

I started out coloring the roses with Tombow markers and a blender pen, but then I didn't have a pink cardstock to match for the dress, so I ended up painting the dress and then painting the roses to match.  I used a shimmery pearlized paint for shine.  The wings are actually from the Dot Butterfly, stamped on vellum and embossed with lavender tinsel embossing powder.  Along with the shimmery paint and ribbons, this fairy practically glows!

I added a ribbon on the top of the head for hanging, but I found that a glue dot worked fine for mounting the doll on a door.

I have a friend who will just love her - and she will  fit flat into an envelope to send!

It has been so much fun sharing the ways I use SweetStamps with you this month.  I hope I have inspired you to try something new!

Christmas Parchment with Guest Designer Hilde

Hi everyone, hope you have all been well and had a great week so far...
It's an honour to be chosen as a Guest Designer for Sweet Stamps. I just love using their stamps, they stamp crisply and cleary, and the range is just awesome!
Just a little about myself...I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. I was always doing something...I have pretty much tried everything, from folkart painting, watercolours, mosaics, cottage crafts, sewing, crochet, quilting, smocking you name it.....but papercrafts has me going now, and I have been making mainly cards for about 8 years and am loving it...I am now venturing into the 3d paper crafting, and I have a lot to learn, my mistakes (and I make a lot of those) end up being tags or small gift tags lol, at least nothing is wasted.....I have accumulated a large selection of the 6 x6 paperpads which I adore...Love collecting more and my second favourite tools are dies, I am really enjoying using them on my creations....
This card is my first contribution as a Guest Designer this month.  It's Christmas with Parchment paper (vellum), using Christmas Rose Candle and Merry Christmas stamps.

I have to be honest and admit that I had never used parchment paper before. I put it through an embossing folder and then stamped the rose candle image on the back and coloured it from the back with promarkers and then flipped it over, then placed it over a some designer paper from my stash, from memory Kaisercraft-just believe...added bling and some stickles (warning, the stickles will crinkle the parchment as I found out..oops)

Hope you like it, blessings Hilde
