A Little Vintage Love

Aimee here with a sweet little project to share with you.

 

Today we will play with the awesome French Oval Classic Bubble frame kit

along with Vintage Dress Form embellishments, flowers, inks, and enamel powders.

What you'll need:

Piccolos Vintage Dress Form Embellishments & French Oval Bubble Frame Kit

Enamel Powders: Gilded Rose Gold, Aged White, Vintage Black 

Enamel powder Adhesive

Enamel Gels: Rose Pearl & Gold

E600 glue

Adirodack inks- Butterscotch, Cranberry, and Ginger

Flowers

Pink Gelato

Paint brush, water, stipple brushes or sponges, heat tool, tooth picks, clamps/clothespins, heavy book, word sticker, scrap of black wire, Ranger's Sticky back canvas (or some good card stock and adhesive)

 

1. Use the oval ad trace the sticky back canvas/paper. Cut out.

Adhere to the oval.

2. Use the stipple brushes or sponges and color the canvas.

3. Add a little pink Gelato and smoosh it around

 a bit with a damp paint brush. Set aside to dry.

4. Use the adhesive fluid and Aged White powder to coat the oval frame. 

I did two coats.

5. Use the adhesive fluid and Gilded Rose Gold powder to coat the lace frame.

I did two coats on it, too.

6. Use a tooth pick to add E600 glue to the back of the lace frame.

Adhere it to the oval frame and stick it under a heavy book for awhile

to make sure it's good and adhered.

7. Use the adhesive fluid and Vintage Black powder to coat the dress form.

I really love the way it looks!!!

8. Now begin assembling your piece.

Use a toothpick to put E600 glue onto the back of the dress form ad adhere it to the canvas oval.

I used E600 to glue everything down on this one.

9. Once the inside is done, place the clear bubble over it,

using E600 glue to adhere it. Clamp it down for awhile to be sure it's

really stuck on! Add the frame using the E600 glue and clamping it down as well.

Add some flowers and it's done.

Hello my lovelies!

Today I have for you one of my favorite things to create- mini canvases.

Ah they are so much fun and so very sweet.

This project also uses one of my favorite charms sets- Vintage Birdcages.

Supplies:

Mini canvas, fancy napkin, acrylic paint, Mod Podge, epoxy sticker, beads, charms (bow and bird)

Heat gun, tooth pick

Vintage Birdcage Piccolos

Enamel Adhesive Fluid

Aged White enamel powder

Gold & Copper enamel gels

E600 glue

First things first- separate the layers of your fancy napkin.

Coat the canvas with mod Podge and stick the top (fancy) layer of the napkin onto the canvas.

Once it's dry, tear off around the edges. Then paint the edges with acrylic paint.

Randomly plop some enamel adhesive fluid onto the canvas and add Aged White enamel powder.

Heat to melt the powder and activate the adhesive.

Coat the solid background for the birdcage with enamel adhesive fluid and then Aged White powder.

Heat it up!

Now coat the fancy part of the birdcage with enamel gels.

Gold on the swirly heart on the door, copper on the rest.

(I went back and did a second coat of the gold once it was all dry).

Once the cage is dry, use a toothpick to put E600 glue onto the back of it and adhere it to the cage background.

Add the birdcage to the left corner of the canvas.

Use the E600 to add a bow to the cage (this bow was a charm that I cut the loop off of).

Randomly spread some E600 around the bottom of the cage/bottom edge of the canvas 

and drop beads onto it.  

Add your epoxy sticker and a bird charm, and it's all done!

Hello there!

I don't know about you, but I'm itching for spring.

Today I have for you not one but two sweet little birdie pendants in lovely spring colors. 

This project has a short supply list and comes together pretty easily.

Supplies:

Bird charms CA101

Rose Pearl Enamel Gel

Enamel Powders: Brownstone & Turquoise Lagoon

Enamel Adhesive Fluid

E600 Glue

Necklace Cords

Jump Rings

Heat gun, toothpick, big heavy book

Punch out two solid birds and one swirly bird. 

Separate the inside from the frame.

Coat the solid birdies with the Rose Pearl enamel gel.

I LOVE this color!

(I used a pretty thick coat, so they sat overnight to dry)

Use the Enamel Adhesive Fluid and powders to coat the other two bird pieces.

I REALLY heated them up to get a nice smooth finish.

Once your pink birdies are completely dry, use the toothpick to

put E600 glue onto the backs of the two swirly pieces.

Add one swirly piece to each pink piece, stick 'em under a heavy book for a few minutes,

and let dry (preferably overnight).

Add a jump ring and add to the necklace.

Time for a little Spring

I am so very excited to play with the new spring colors of enamel gels!

Today I have a pair of pretty little earrings for you.

What you need:

Teardrop Charms

Glastique in both Matte & Glossy

Enamel gels: Silver, Coral Pearl, Rose Pearl, Daffodil

Earring wires, jump rings

One side at a time, color each flower with enamel gel. 

Then color the frame with silver enamel gel. 

Allow to dry, flip over and repeat on the other side.

Once it's all dry, coat the flowers with matte Glastique

and the frame with glossy Glastique. 

Allow to dry thoroughly, flip over, and repeat.

Once the Glastique is completely dried, add a jump ring to each charm

and add them to the earring wires.

There ya go!

Denim Blues -----

It's new release week. And my-oh-my are the new items wonderful. Teresa here today with some great earrings that are just prefect to dress up my daily blue jean and t-shirt wardrobe. 

Lets get started.

From Globecraft and Piccolo you will need:
- Vintage Corner Flourish Piccolo Set A157
- Glasstique Gloss Finishing Glaze
- Embossing Adhesive
- Deep Blue Sky Embossing Powder - this is a fine detail powder that can easily be used for stamped images.
- French Loop Earrings 

You will also need
- assorted beads for the charm in the center
- jump rings
- 2 short pieces of fine silver chain
- assorted jewelry assembly tools
- heatgun


Now then let's get started.

I took two of the Flourish Piccolos and decided quickly that I did not want those extensions on them. These are laser cut from book board and are easily trimmed with scissors.  The top flourish has the extended parts and the bottom one has been trimmed.

After trimming the Flourishes, I embossed both sides of each with the Deep Blue Sky Powder. (every time I try a new powder it becomes my favorite)

I put three layers of powder on these.  The process of embossing takes just minutes,  so layering is easy to accomplish.

Just look at those gorgeous blue tones.

To strengthen and gloss up the finish, I cover the shapes with gloss Glastique Glaze. For the fine detail on these, I squeezed a bit of the Glastique onto a tiny paint brush and simply brushed it on.

Then I patiently waited for it to dry.

I gathered up my other bits while those were drying. You see two different charms there. I had a difficult time deciding which to use.

Just look at that blue.

After the shapes were dry, I added the chains to the tops of the curls with jump rings.

Added the charms (I finally decided the blue grey and silver looked best) and hooked through the earring loops.

Ready to wear.

The book board is light weight so these are VERY comfortable to wear. They can easily be customized for your wardrobe. Just pick your favorite color of the embossing powders.

Steampunk Necklace

Hello my fine feathered friends!

I thought I'd try my hand at steampunk, and I'd love your feed back!

What you need:

Acrylic charm

Gear Necklace

Cord Necklace

Pinch Bail

Enamel Adhesive Fluid

Enamel Powders: Victorian Bronze, Vintage Black, Aged White

Enamel Gels: Gold, Copper

Glastique

E600 Glue

Word Sticker (Tim Holtz), sparkling ultra fine glitter (My Stamp Box), mica chips (USArt Quest), metal gear brad (Eyelet Outlet), alcohol inks (Ranger), clamp or clothespin.



What to do:

1. Peel the blue protective stuff off of both sides of the acrylic charm. Ink up the front with alcohol inks. 

 

2.  Punch out the gear and coat the two larger gears with enamel adhesive fluid. Coat one gear with Vintage Black powder and the other with Aged White powder. Heat to melt the powders and activate the adhesive. Coat the remaining gear and the little turn key with gold 3D Enamel Gel. Coat the two circles that punched out of the gears with Copper enamel gel. Let dry.

3. Once your gears are completely dry and set, cut the prongs off the gear brad and use a little E600 to adhere it over the largest gear. Clamp together for a few minutes to ensure a secure bond.

4. Paint some glossy Glastique onto the acrylic charm. Sprinkle with the sparkling glitter and mica flakes. Let dry and then use a soft paint brush to sweep off the excess.

5. Paint the back of the sticker with Glastique and add it to the bottom edge of the charm. Coat top of sticker with matte Glastique.

6. Use the E600 glue to adhere the gears to the charm (I use a toothpick to put the glue onto the gears). Clamp down (put your clamp on the metal gear so you don't mar the surface) for a few minutes to be sure it's good and stuck. Add the two copper circles, the bail, and put onto the necklace. There ya go!!

Vintage Birdcage Necklace

Hello, hello, hello!

This little sweetie was pretty easy to create and I think it's

just so dang cute!!

What you need:

Piccolo Vintage Birdcage CA121

Enamel Adhesive Fluid

Turquoise Lagoon enamel powder

Enamel Gels: Silver, Gold, Copper

Cord necklace

E600 glue

Tiny hole-less beads, bird charm (this one is from prima), toothpicks, jump ring, heat gun

What to do:

1. Coat the base piece for the bird cage with enamel adhesive fluid and Turquoise Lagoon enamel powder. Heat until thoroughly melted.

2. Get out a piece of chipboard, or an old plastic lid, or something, an put a little bit of each enamel gel on it (that is, if you don't have the super fine tips. If you DO have them, disregard this part).

3. Use the toothpicks (or super fine tips) and color the detail part of your bird cage. I did gold on the base/legs and loop, silver on the bars, and copper on the door. PS-- when you punch out all of the little bits from the cage, DO NOT throw out the heart...we will use it next week.

4. Once the cage is dry, flip it over and use a toothpick to coat the back with E600 glue. Adhere it to the base (hold it down for a minute or two). Then go back over any areas of the cage that need touched up. Be sure to recoat the top near the loop, then dump some tiny hole-less beads on it. Once the entire thing is dry, shake the excess beads off.

5. Take the bird charm and randomly put some of the enamel gels on it (I just used the toothpicks). let dry.



6. Once your birdie is dry, add a jump ring to him, and then a jump ring to the bird cage. Attach bird to cage and the entire thing to the cord necklace. 

The Mermaid wears her Heart on her Tears

Good Morning  from the frosty southern US. Teresa here and I'm back with this week's fun creation. 

Being on the design team, I am challenged to see how far the materials can be pushed and I really wanted to see how the Embossing Powders reacted to being applied to smooth metal.

So lets look at some steps for this one.

Gather the supplies
- embossing adhesive
- Mermaid Tears Embossing Powder
- gloss Glastique
- matte Glastique
- fine applicator tip

other supplies
-bracelet blank
- I used heart punches from a favorite paper.
- tiny paint brush
- heat gun

See how smooth and shiny the blanks are.

We have all advised you not to Squeeze the adhesive because the applicator tip will come off -- well this time take it off. 

Dip a tiny paintbrush into the adhesive and paint inside the shapes (yes it does "gather up"). I found that I could manage about three hearts at a time. 

Roll the container of the Mermaid Tears Powder to mix the particles and sprinkle in the shape then heat.

TIP - do not shake any excess off for this project.

I'm sharing this because I do not want you to think this is a panic moment. You will have to repeat the application process. I actually had to do three layers of application.

Simply repaint the adhesive - add powder - and heat.

After three layers I had this lovely - The Mermaid Tears is a beautiful mix of tan, white, silver, and some ocean blue and green bits.

I then used the Matte Glastique as an adhesive to hold my heart paper bits.

Let this dry.

TIP - I keep my fine applicator tips   (yes I have plural) stored in water in the vials they were shipped in. This keeps them from clogging with dried enamels and glastique. I also keep a container of water close by to drop them in until I can clean them out. The enamels and Glastique are soap and water clean up until they are dry.

After the hearts were dry in place, I add a layer of the GLOSS Glastique to each shape. Then I covered the whole thing with a box lid to keep from marring the finish while it all dries.

I left this overnight and this morning I found........

Gorgeous - the Glastique brings out the various colors in the enamel finish.

And I am quite happy to report that, yes, the enamel adhesive and powder do adhere quite well to the smooth metal finish.
